With our recent redesign of the system settings and preferences pages, we’ve made it one step easier for you to access your API key. Here are the steps on how to locate your API key under the new redesign:
1. Click on your white “My Account” link on the top right corner.
2. Click on your “FreshBooks API” sub-tab on the top right.
3. Click on your checkbox next to “Yes, I agree to the API terms of service”.
4. Your “API URL” and “Authentication Token” will become visible on your screen.

please tell me how to get my Iphone app to work. I hav enterted in the 60 digit API by hand on my Iphone keyboard and it says it doesn’t match. Too tiresome. Where are the instructions! Why isn’t this easier?

i agree. doesn’t work. the token is too long to work in the iphone app format.

I signed up for freshbooks and minibooks on iphone on same day.
I wasted two hours trying to find the API key, until I reached this page.
I couldn’t find the ‘my account’ on my page because it is white in colour and the colour of the page is white too !!!! So I used my sixth sense to locate it.
Thank god, I found the API key, finally.
Then transferring all those alpha numerals one by one from the computer to iphone needed my seventh sense and…. bingo…. it is all working now !!
Well, from here onwards all are going to be as smooth as silk, I assume.
Correct me if I am wrong.
It's now possible to run your web application or subscription service billing on FreshBooks through our API!
You can now capture credit cards from inside your own application and send them to FreshBooks over the recurring profiles API.
FreshBooks now supports Webhooks for real-time event notifications.
